A six horse field awaits the starting gate for Saturdays Sham stakes. My Sham Stakes Preview has already been posted. This week on Down to the Wire, Candace and I review the Jerome Stakes, preview the Sham stakes, handicap a MSW race at Oaklawn Park on Friday and a MSW race for 3 year-olds on Saturday.
Candice feels that Kristo may get the jump on the field and expects Kristo to wire the field with moderate fractions, with a small field.
My analysis is that we may have a speed duel between Top Fortitude and Kristo, I’m leaning towards Midnight Hawk as my selection being the now horse with his recent win. Top Fortitude is very formidable and is my 2nd choice.
Oaklawn Park: Friday 5th race MSW:
- Derbyologist: The selection is Bro Rodrigeaux with Aniar as a longshot play
- Cappinwithcandice: Penobscot as the choice with Wizardly as a longshot play
Gulfstream Park: Saturday 4th Race MSW:
- Derbyologist: Hartford 6/1 as top choice
- Candice: Constitution 4/1 and Alpha Roadster at 10/1
