The Beldame may lack star quality but offers a good handicapping puzzle and a chance at a moderate price in a competitive field.
The Skinny:
Fiftyshadesofhay – ran a good race in the slop last race and seems to be rounding into form. Gets a jock switch to Rosario. Normal running style is to sit mid-pack but is capable of sitting mid pack and make a run. Strong effort expected.
Stanwyck – has races very capable of winning this. Take note zero for 6 this year and just 1 for last 10. Should like the distance and fast track should be more to her liking.
Stopchargingmaria – Has faced weak fields in last 3 races and now faces older horses. Seems to be in form right now and although a touch slow. Capable of running to any pace scenario and used to be fast. Expecting a regression.
Belle Gallantey – The speed of the race and if able to slow down the pace should get a good trip. May go favored in this race despite the morning line.
The Choice:
Fiftyshadesofhay ran a strong race in the mud last race. Gets a good distance and favorable trip set-up. 7/2 is a fair price. Belle Gallantey is the speed and would be 2nd choice.
