2018 Pasco Stakes Preview

Tampa Bay is the home of the Pasco stakes as Sophomores continue on the trail for a possible start in the Sam F Davis or Tampa Bay Derby later this spring.

Contenders:

He Hate Me makes his three-year-old debut off a long layoff, last seen winning the Tremont Stakes at Belmont.  He had a 78 Beyer in his second lifetime start in June that translates to a lower 90-speed figure as a 3-year-old with typical development.  Most likely favorite and did have a minor issue physically last fall, but has been working for two months very forwardly.

Mind Trappe Dominated a Maiden race at Arlington Park in July, winning by seven lengths.  Receives first lasix for his debut as a sophomore and pedigree and connections should have him fit to fire at first asking. January foal should be mature off the layoff.

Arazi Like Move chased impressive winner Tricks to Doo in the most recent start and picked up a big win at Delaware.  Young Sire Graydar should throw some good milers and dirt horses in general.  Comes from off the pace and maybe fitter than the top two favorites at the seven-furlong distance.

Fair Odds Line:

He Hate Me  4/1

Mind Trappe 7/2

Arazi Like Move  6/1

The Selection:

Mind Trappe has the pedigree and strong workout pattern, his second-lifetime start and going seven furlongs could be a challenge, but the raw talent probably has the most upside of the field.
